Daytrippers Report: Bracklesham Sunday Funday

Right on guys! After what felt like NASA level planning, nine of the crew made it to Bracklesham Bay today for a bloody lovely Sunday! After an early 6am start from London we head to the surf rental shop we’d earmarked only to find out boards rented there could only be used right in front of the shed (at West Wittering.…. which was a shitshow of 1ft slop). A few of the crew head off to try and find a cheap wetsuit or secondhand foamie but no luck. We had 3 spare boards between us and managed to get almost everyone surfing in the end but lesson learnt… If you’re heading to these day spots, a board and wetsuit is essential!! For future reference, Ralph has a club board in Mordon, and i’m always happy to lend out my foamie from Brixton.

The wind was winding… there were so many kite surfers out it was comical. So we went for a surf skate session (thank you to the boys for dragging me around the car park until I got the hang of it (»).

Did any of us catch the waves of our lives, hell no. Did everyone get some waves and have fun.. absolutely! It was messy as hell, there was no line up or break in the waves but still something to be had and a decent bit of paddle practice. We all came out and agreed we had a better surf than expected. Jack, Simo and Conor all caught some decent waves. And I was just happy to get some waves after a poor last few sessions in Newquay last weekend. Big ups to Jemma, Jake, Ran, Conor and Vadym for bringing the energy and positivity to your first GSC trip – and for driving duties (Jemma and Conor). And thank you to Nisan, Jack and Simo for the immaculate vibes as always.

P.s. The boots and hoods are off, Spring is hereeeee!
